We perform carols and other Christmas music for three hours in central London . Our huge performance brings festive cheer to all of our participants and a growing crowd of audience around our festive musical extravaganza.
Any musician is welcome, regardless of ability, and no rehearsal or preparation (other than an instrument or voice) is required. Performers who don't usually make music in a band or choir are especially welcome. We provide all of the sheet music to play Christmas carols and tunes, ensuring accessibility for everyone.
The Big Christmas Wind Orchestra was formed in 2012 by friends who wanted to bring a few musically keen people together for a grand Christmas play-through of favourite songs. It was so successful that we carried on and grew and grew, including welcoming a Choir from 2015!
Musicians from London and around the UK come together in our huge annual performance. We mix amateurs and professionals, with a real focus on bringing people into regular making music through an enormous, inspirational event.
We also run a huge event for Make Music Day on 21st June every year. Everyone is welcome to join again, with another huge wind orchestra and choir celebration. We'll perform a whole range of music from folk song to pop classics via opera choruses. It's usually just a bit warmer in the middle of summer!
